Combined with the 26% increase in 2021, Southern Baptists have seen a 46% increase over the past two years. Despite those recent jumps, the numbers are still part of a negative trend since the early 2000s.
Specifically, 88% of U.S. Christians believe lasting peace in the region requires a mutually agreed-upon political solution between Israel and Palestinians, while 8% disagree.
For two years now, almost every church in America has been holding in-person worship services, but not every pre-pandemic worshiper has returned.
“Pursuing holiness was never designed by God to be a plan for financial riches,” Scott McConnell said. “The size of one’s finances is not the measure of anyone’s service to God nor relationship with Him.”
Despite saying they want to serve people outside their churches, few churchgoers are even serving within the context of their own churches.
The reality is that the church is full of sinful saints, who are hurt from life and thus can’t apply perfect healing to others. But as we look to Scripture and the character of Jesus Christ, there is hope for a better understanding of what grief provides and how to healthily engage with it.
“Believing God wants you to tithe and doing it are two different things. Some who do not tithe are consistent with their giving at a lower threshold, and others give when they feel they are able. Like many exhortations in Scripture, giving your finances to God is not necessarily easy in practice.”
Most Protestant churchgoers spend time alone with God at least daily, but it looks different for every person.
