God is constant. He never changes. … He is the same yesterday, today and forever. The consistency of God also means that insofar as He has given us insight, we can see how He chooses to relate to us as His special creation, distinct from the animals.
“There are good days, there are bad days and there are really bad days. … Please just continue to love on me during these times when I’m not reciprocating.”
Christ, as the greatest Neighbor, has come down to us regardless of our qualifications and forgiven us for our sin. When we rest in Christ this Christmas, the hurting or rightly offended heart can find mercy and grace.
The best definition of what it is to be human comes from Christianity: each person is made in the likeness of God. Conversations about what it means to be beautiful, questions about racism, gender and sexuality, social media and influence, or about what makes someone “good” need to be based on identity — a real identity in Christ, not social expectation.
King Solomon says it well in Ecclesiastes 3:12, “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.” Make a choice of how you want to live this day. You never know who may benefit from your positive perspective.
Should we want America to turn to God? Of course! Our hearts’ desire should be to see the people of America turn to the Lord in repentance and become the people of God. But nowhere in the Bible was this purpose accomplished through political power. It takes the power of the Spirit through the proclamation of the gospel.
Sometimes God steps in and closes a door, but not to hurt us or just because He can — His plan is always greater than ours. As I look back on this season of my life, I can’t help but wonder how many other times God has protected me through His “no.”
