NOTE: This post continues a series of writings through the book of Luke. See the previous post here.
Luke 1:80 “And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel.”
John the Baptist was the one who’s sole mission was to prepare the way of the Lord. But this preparation did not begin when he started declaring these things. John prepared his entire life.
He took the Nazarite vow, a vow that required him to live isolated and without luxuries in order to dedicate himself fully to the Lord.
This man, the one the Father sent to prepare the way, came not from a place of privilege but a place of dependence. John chose communion with God over a standard home, normal food, and connection with others.
It was through this time that the Lord equipped him to minister to the world and prepare the way for His Son.
Are we willing to live in awareness of our dependence?
Are we willing to let go of the things of this world in order to devote all that we are to the Lord of All?
