Should we want America to turn to God? Of course! Our hearts’ desire should be to see the people of America turn to the Lord in repentance and become the people of God. But nowhere in the Bible was this purpose accomplished through political power. It takes the power of the Spirit through the proclamation of the gospel.
Sometimes God steps in and closes a door, but not to hurt us or just because He can — His plan is always greater than ours. As I look back on this season of my life, I can’t help but wonder how many other times God has protected me through His “no.”
Not only will you be filling a need within your congregation — you also will be filled with encouragement, fellowship and joy as you work alongside fellow believers.
To understand completely the ways of God would make us gods ourselves, and we must hold fast to the humbling declaration, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are [God’s] ways higher than your ways and [God’s] thoughts than your thoughts” (Is. 55:9).
Scripture doesn’t promise health, wealth or marriage, but it does promise that God will never leave us or forsake us (Deut. 31:6). So wherever you are, whatever you are feeling, God is there with you.
While we will be used by Him and for Him, we are not the prize — He is.
