Moments of life

It is said that time heals all wounds. Sounds good, doesn’t it? To just stay busy, so busy we rush the time away and our wounds are gone. Or maybe we could sleep that time away so when we wake up, our pain would magically disappear.

But for those of us who have tried to let time heal us, we know it doesn’t necessarily work that way. Staying busy helps us to forget for a while, but the pain is still very real no matter how much time goes by.

It might help to remember that life is full of difficult moments for every person.  The “Facebook life” doesn’t exist for anyone. You know the one where all families and jobs are perfect, no one is sick or dies and we all love each other all the time. The “Facebook life,” if it existed, would be like living our best life. But no one has that life.

So when difficult times come your way, remember first and foremost to pray that God will walk you through it. Trying to rush the process instead of being mindful in it will cause you to miss what God wants to work in your life through it. Ask Him to help you understand what you can learn from these moments.

I know I learn more about myself and God when I am experiencing difficult situations than when life is breezing by. It reminds me that God wants me to grow and trust Him. And when we allow God to comfort us, the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:4 that “we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

Also, sharing your painful moments with someone you trust can help you gain perspective about your situation. When we unburden our hearts to someone, not only are we able to understand things in a different way, but we give our friend the opportunity to be a blessing to us.

So as much as you are tempted to, don’t rush through your life to get through difficult times.  Life is precious!  Live in every moment and grow in it. And always remember, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Phil. 1:6).  God isn’t finished with you yet!
