NOTE: This post continues a series of writings through the book of Luke. See the previous post here.
Jesus’ birth displays His humility. The Son of God could have been born in a luxurious palace, but He wasn’t. He could have been born in a sophisticated medical complex with a clean room, professional staff, and advanced medicines, but He wasn’t.
He wasn’t even born in a building fit for humans.
The most humble man to have ever lived began His life among the barn animals, and He carried this humility with Him throughout His entire life. He hung out with the people that were shunned by the rest of society, He made a big public appearance on the back of a donkey, and He washed His friends’ feet.
But praise the Lord that His humility didn’t stop there. The Man who knew no sin took on our sin and paid for that sin through His own death. He took the punishment He didn’t deserve so that we can share in the reward that only He deserves.
Let’s praise our Savior for His humility. And let’s long for the day when His full glory is revealed and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
