God is amazing isn’t He? How often do you sit back and just think about how big and awesome He is? I promise you it probably isn’t often enough.
God is Creator. He created you and me, our friends, our families, this world and everything in it. The abilities and mind of God are far beyond anything we could ever comprehend.
I love to travel. I have wanderlust. I have an intense desire to get out of Alabama and see the world. And you know what? I think traveling is an incredible way to experience God.
When you’re standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon, remember Who carved the stone.
When you look up at the pyramids in Egypt, remember the God Who knows exactly how they were built all those years ago.
When you walk the streets of Rome, remember Christ’s disciples who walked before you.
When you marvel at the Eiffel Tower, remember Who gifts and inspires artists.
When you hike the Rocky Mountains, remember the God Who can move them.
God didn’t just create the universe. He personally ordained hundreds and thousands of wonders, monuments and creations for us to enjoy.
He could’ve made the entire world look like Alabama, with rolling hills. Or He could’ve made the entire world look like Libya, with hot, dry desert. As Creator God, He had every right to make the whole world look exactly the same. But He didn’t do that.
He gave us mountains and canyons, deserts and oceans, reefs and rainforests, glaciers and volcanoes. Why? So when we look out upon the world we see the mighty, creative God who holds us close.
And it’s not just the natural wonders that reveal God’s nature. It’s the manmade ones too. Look to the pyramids, the Statue of Liberty, the Mona Lisa, the Sistine Chapel. God ordained and inspired those wonders too.
So I challenge you to see the world through that lens. Whether you’re jet setting across the globe or driving to work, remember that the God we serve molded every bit of landscape your eyes sees and your feet touch. That beautiful poem or painting you just saw? God created and inspired the artist behind the art.
God’s power, love and imagination are on display in everything we see. Don’t let another moment pass — let the wonders of our awe-inspiring God overwhelm you.
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)
